Nabibakhsh Mansoori
Born in 1966, Nabibakhsh Mansoori belongs to Oda, pretty and placid hamlet located in
Sabarkantha, a district of Gujarat state where he spent his childhood. Wandering in the
Aravalli Ranges, reading poems of the rocks, listening to songs of the birds, rocking to the
tunes of shepherds, watching 'turi', 'targala' and 'bhavai vesh' from the front row,
listening to fairy-tales, fables, stories of voyages and the grand tales of kings and
emperors from his uncle, together, became the source and instilled in him the inspiration
for his artistic journey. A colourist, Mansoori’s paintings are exuberant, and at times
surreal. His world is a vortex, which has no beginning or end; it is a seamless existence of
reality and the dream world.
