Dhruti Mahajan
Dhruti Mahajan is a visual artist, born in Amalner in 1981 was brought up in Akot, Maharashtra. Trained as an advocate, Dhruti quit her law practice to become a full-time artist in 2010. She then completed her BFA from Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Fine Arts, Pune in 2016. Dhruti is known for her minimal geometric abstract works that reflect her commitment to a minimalist lifestyle, paring down possessions and visual clutter to focus on the essentials. The dean lines and shapes in her work mirror the streamlined, functional aesthetic that she strives for in her daily life.
Dhruti has won many awards such as prestigious 128th Bombay Art Society's 'His Excellency The Governor of Maharashtra Award and Gold Medal, Mumbai 2020, 58th Maharashtra State Award(Professional Category), Mumbai 2018, City Award (Akola) - Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Mumbai-2017, 2nd Prize All India Women Artist' Contemporary Art Exhibition-Artscapes, Chandigarh - 2016, 2nd Prize Late Shri Jayantrao Tilak Award-29th All India Lokmanya Tilak and V.V. Oak Art Exhibition, Pune-2016, to name a few.
Through her painting she tries to take the audiences to this thoughtlessness state where only the viewer remains by himself, the brain quiescent and the eyes observing.
