Biography

Sachin Sagare, born in 1981 in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, is an Indian contemporary artist celebrated for his evocative portrayals of rural women. His upbringing in a small village deeply influenced his artistic vision, drawing inspiration from the strength and grace of the women around him.

 

Sagare honed his skills at the Dalvis Art Institute in Kolhapur, earning a Diploma in Drawing and Painting in 2002, followed by a Diploma in Applied Arts from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, in 2004. Initially working in Mumbai's film industry as a storyboard artist and assistant director, he transitioned to a full-time painting career in 2011 to pursue his true passion.

 

His artworks are distinguished by their vibrant hues and delicate lines, capturing the essence of village life. Often depicting women in traditional saris engaged in daily activities or moments of reflection, his paintings celebrate their resilience and inner beauty. Recurring motifs, such as women holding flowers, symbolize the intrinsic connection between femininity and nature.

 

Sagare's works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions across India, including solo shows at Jehangir Art Gallery and Artist Center in Mumbai. His contributions to art have been recognized with accolades like the Art Society of India Award and the Maharashtra State Art Award. Currently residing in Goa, he continues to create art that pays homage to the women who have profoundly influenced his life.
