Biography
Debosmita Samanta is a Hyderabad-based visual artist from West Bengal. She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts in Painting from the College of Art and Design, Burdwan University, in 2010, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the S.N. School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad, in 2012. Over the years, she has built a significant exhibition history, presenting her work in solo and group exhibitions at leading galleries and institutions across India, including Method Kala Ghoda, Gallery Veda, Kalakriti Art Gallery, Gallery OED, and Janus Art Gallery. She has also participated in several artist residencies and has been the recipient of the Merit Award at the 1st National Exhibition of Art organized by the Karnataka Lalithakala Academy in 2017.
Samanta's practice draws upon memory, domestic spaces, and everyday life, using painting to explore themes of identity, belonging, and the emotional resonance of personal histories.
