Based in Hyderabad, his artistic practice draws deeply from the memories and experiences of his native village, translating everyday life, traditional customs and regional visual culture into compelling figurative compositions.

Aelay began his career as a signboard painter before establishing himself as a designer and illustrator of books, earning recognition within Telugu literary circles. He subsequently pursued formal training in painting at the JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad. His works are distinguished by their meticulous detailing, expressive figures and sensitive portrayal of rural communities. Working across varied palettes and formats, he has explored monochromatic compositions as well as vibrant depictions of traditional attire, jewellery, flowers and village life.

His practice brings together realism, memory and cultural narratives, reflecting the vitality of Telangana's social and artistic traditions. His works also draw upon indigenous visual languages and folk-art motifs, creating layered compositions that celebrate the lives, identities and lived experiences of ordinary people.

Aelay has exhibited extensively in India and internationally. His solo exhibitions include Images of Kadirenigudem at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Art Gallery, Hyderabad, Song of the Village at Apparao Galleries, Chennai, and The River Underneath at India Fine Art, Mumbai.
