Bose Krishnamachari

Bose Krishnamachari (born 1963, Mangattukara, Kerala) is one of India's leading contemporary artists, curators, and cultural visionaries. After completing his studies at the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, he developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and new media. His work often explores themes of identity, memory, globalization, and the shifting relationship between tradition and modernity, employing a rich visual language that combines conceptual inquiry with material experimentation. Beyond his artistic practice, Bose has played a transformative role in shaping India's contemporary art ecosystem. He is the founder of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India's first international biennale of contemporary art, which has significantly expanded global engagement with South Asian art. His works have been exhibited widely across India and internationally and are included in numerous public and private collections. Through both his artistic and curatorial contributions, Bose Krishnamachari continues to influence contemporary art discourse in India and beyond.
