Biography
Hetal Chudasama (b. July 1984) is a visual artist whose practice spans installation, performance, drawing, text, objects and moving image. Born in Junagadh, Gujarat, she studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda. During 2010 and 2011, she was awarded a six-month research residency at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, France, supported by the Krishnakriti Foundation, in association with Kalakriti Art Gallery.
Chudasama’s practice explores the relationship between the personal and the collective, often engaging with memory, identity, migration, displacement and social realities. She frequently uses everyday spaces, objects, language and performance to examine how individual experiences are shaped by larger social and cultural structures. Her works move between the intimate and the political, the real and the imagined, often using theatrical and ritual elements to create situations that invite reflection. Working across different media, Chudasama approaches art as a space for inquiry, bringing together personal experience, observation and research to question familiar ways of seeing and understanding the world.
