Indigenous art practices continue to be revived and thrive in many parts of India, with proponents of these forms practising and passing down their knowledge to others in a bid to keep their traditions alive. A new show in the Telangana capital celebrates these artistic traditions, bringing to gallery walls vibrant creations by master artists. From Bidri and Cheriyal scroll painting to Gond and Burli art, each of the styles on showcase have distinct imagery and cultural meaning. Featuring creations by folk and indigenous artists like Bhuri Bai, Balu Jivya Mashe, Saroj Venkat Shyam and Venkat Raman Shyam, Living Lineages brings alive art forms that many consider sacred.
