Avijit Dutta
Avijit Dutta has been leaving his artistic imprints since 1996 ever since he plunged himself into art with passion which became his life philosophy. Art has been his language which encompasses everything he does right from his childhood spent in the quiet alleys in North Calcutta to his present day practice which quietly absorbs the transformation that time and technology brought in. He dips into the reservoir of his collected experiences and builds visual experiments that take you back in time, sometimes to fantasy and also the harsh crude realities of life that he masterfully conceals in his subdued portraitures and creations. His work has been experimental, metaphorical and speaks about human encounters, associations, memories, mingled with history, and the societal dichotomies which exist that shape mindsets, customs and revolution that inspires much of his art.
Avijit’s works has been unique in that he has always played with mediums, treatments and of course his trademark frames, each distinct from the other which he himself sources and gives shape to. His works has featured in prestigious and leading art galleries in India and he believes that art is a sum total of the dedication and teamwork of shared thoughts, understanding, trust and support.
