Manas Naskar
Manas Naskar (b. 1984, Kolkata, West Bengal) is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice explores the relationship between nature, landscape and the changing environment. He completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, in 2009.
Working primarily with charcoal and other painting materials, Naskar draws inspiration from the natural surroundings of his native region. His works capture the subtle rhythms of vegetation, open spaces, shifting light and changing atmospheres, reflecting a deep personal connection with the landscape. Through detailed observation and expressive mark-making, he seeks to convey both the tranquillity and the dynamic forces of nature.
Naskar has participated in several national exhibitions, including the CIMA Award Show, the annual exhibition of Birla Academy of Art & Culture, and exhibitions organised by Lalit Kala Akademi and the State Gallery of Art, Hyderabad. He received an award at the 91st All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society annual exhibition in 2018 and participated in 'Whose Memoirs? Whose Archive? An Empirical Survey' at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad, in 2023. He lives and works in Kolkata.
