Sajid Bin Amar
Sajid Bin Amar is a contemporary Indian artist based in Hyderabad, whose practice spans painting, drawing and printmaking. He studied Drawing, Painting and Printmaking at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, and completed his Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking at the University of Hyderabad under the guidance of renowned artist Laxma Goud.
Bin Amar’s artistic practice combines traditional techniques with an experimental approach to mixed media. His works feature expressive lines, layered surfaces, textured compositions and vibrant colours, moving between figuration and abstraction. Drawing inspiration from contemporary urban culture and consumerism, he explores the influence of popular imagery, desire and commercial visual culture on everyday life. Through scraping, layering and reworking painted surfaces, he creates dynamic compositions that challenge conventional distinctions between fine art and popular culture.
Bin Amar has exhibited widely in India, including at galleries in New Delhi and Mumbai. His work was featured in the Fifth Biennale of Indian Contemporary Art at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. He has received academic distinctions and fellowships in recognition of his artistic practice. Based in Hyderabad, he continues to explore the possibilities of material, image and contemporary visual expression.
