Biography

Born in 1965, BolgumNageshGoudisagoldmedallist from Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University (JNTU), Hyderabad, where he completed his degree in Fine Arts.

Nagesh Goud's works are deeply rooted in regional literature and mythology. Drawing inspiration from local textile traditions like Kalamkari and Paithani, Goud borrows craft techniques and uses familiar symbols to illustrate a visual narrative of age-old stories from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.

Goud's paintings often feature bold, brightly coloured faces that resemble the leather puppets of Andhra Pradesh, where he hails from. Each figure is adorned with intricate illustrations of mythological figures and scenes.

Having experimented with different mediums– from acrylic and watercolours to oil pastels and ink–Goud expertly layers his canvases and presents a unique interpretation of these classical myths and their protagonists.

Nagesh Goudhasparticipated in numerous exhibitions and artists’ camps all over India and abroad. He was awarded by the Hyderabad Art Society in 2010, as well as JNTU in 1989-1991 and was “Highly Commended” by the Lalit Kala Samiti, Siddipet in 1987. His work is a part of several important private collections.
