Pooja Iranna
Pooja Iranna (b. 1969, New Delhi) is a New Delhi-based contemporary artist who received her BFA in Painting from the College of Art, New Delhi, in 1991, followed by an MFA in Painting in 1995.
Over the past three decades, she has developed a distinctive practice engaging with the structures, complexities and transformations of the urban environment. Iranna has presented her work extensively in India and internationally, with solo exhibitions including Silently Continuing... at Aicon Gallery, New York (2023), Silently... A Proposed Plan for Rethinking the Urban Fabric at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2020), Contemplating the Urban (2019), In the Waves and Underneath at Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi (2010), and Of Human Endeavor at The Guild, Mumbai (2009). Her work has been exhibited at significant institutional platforms including the Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou; National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi; Queens Museum, New York; MARCO Contemporary Art Museum, Rome; and the Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh.
She has participated in the Karachi Biennale and numerous curated exhibitions across India and abroad. Iranna has been awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Award (2002), the Outstanding Women Achievers Award by YFLO (2009), and has been a finalist for the Celeste Prize and SCODA Prize.
