Biography

Rakesh Patel (b. 1983, Gujarat) is an Ahmedabad-based artist who received his Diploma in Drawing and Painting from Sheth C.N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad, in 2003, and later completed a Master’s in Visual Art from Jalgaon, Maharashtra, in 2018. Over the years, he has presented his work extensively through solo and group exhibitions across India and internationally. His solo exhibitions include Sacred Cipher at Iram Art Gallery, Ahmedabad (2025), Urban Uproar at Barataria Art Gallery, New York, and State Lalit Kala Academy, Ahmedabad (2018), Face of Life at ICAC Art Gallery, Mumbai (2015), and Life and Object at the Art Gallery, Hyatt, Ahmedabad (2014). His work has also been exhibited at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Amdavad Ni Gufa, Ahmedabad; Lalit Kala Academy; Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda; and India Art Fair.


Patel has participated in a wide range of curated exhibitions and art events, including India Art Fair, Art Mumbai and Contemporary Istanbul, and has presented his work through galleries and institutions across India and abroad. His recognitions include awards and grants from the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy, Gujarat Kala Pratishthan, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Gujarat Cancer Society, as well as the Chaalo Gujarat Award at the World Gujarati Conference in New Jersey. He has also served as a judge for several art competitions and institutional programmes and was invited by SCAD University of Art and Design, Hong Kong. He lives and works in Ahmedabad.
