Biography

Born on 9 March 1973, Shweta Mansingka is a New Delhi based ceramic artist working in ceramic sculpture and installations. Her practice includes stoneware, porcelain, raku, saggar firing, terra sigillata and alternative firing techniques.

 

Mansingka trained in terracotta sculpture under Shri Ram Kumar Manna in Calcutta from 1989 to 1995, followed by studies in glazing with Rachna Parasher (1997-98), pottery and tool making under Shri Devi Prashad (1999-2000), and a course in raku and alternative firing techniques at Miami University, Ohio, in 2008. She also studied raku with Tim Andrews in 2007.


Her work has been exhibited extensively in India and internationally. Recent exhibitions include 'Fuel to the Fire' at Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai; 'Parched Earth', a solo exhibition at Gallery Espace Shelf, Delhi; 'Her Story' at Gallery KYNKYNY, Bengaluru (2025); 'Bhū' at Emami Art, Kolkata; 'Yatra Naryasthu' at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi (2021); and the International Exhibition of Ceramics and Glass MIKS18 in Zagreb, Croatia (2018).

 

She was part of the 'Remembering Jyostna Bhatt - 2' residency at the Ceramic Centre, Vadodara, in 2023. Mansingka received the Sanmarg Aparajita Women Achievers Award for Visual Arts in 2023 and the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation’s All India Merit Grant for Lockdown Art in 2021. Her work has also been published by the American Ceramic Society.
