Biplab Sarkar

Biplab Sarkar (b. 2 May 1989, Siliguri, West Bengal) is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice explores memory, identity, mythology, and the layered realities of everyday life. He completed his BFA in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, followed by an MFA from the College of Art, University of Delhi. His works have been exhibited at major platforms including the India Art Fair, Lalit Kala Akademi, Kalakriti Art Gallery, Gallery OED, Serendipity Arts Festival, and Art District XIII. Sarkar has participated in prestigious residencies such as the Glenfiddich International Artist Residency (Scotland), Kalakriti Artists Residency, and Space Studio's Monsoon Residency in Vadodara. His achievements include the 2026 Art for Hope Grant by Hyundai India, the CIMA Award (2019), the Glenfiddich Emerging Artist Award (2018), and the Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship. Through a deeply personal yet universally resonant visual language, Sarkar continues to establish himself as one of the significant voices of his generation in contemporary Indian art.
