Overview

Echoes Within brings together thirteen artists who embrace repetition as a meditative and introspective act—an immersive journey where creation itself becomes the pinnacle of their relationship with their work. For these artists, the process is not merely a path to completion but an unfolding ritual, where each mark, fold, and impression is a quiet meditation, a dialogue between the artist and their chosen medium.

Their practices reflect the evolving language of contemporary art, offering fresh perspectives on identity, environment, memory, and transformation. The works in this exhibition emerge from deeply personal narratives, woven with layers of thought, time, and emotion. As they challenge conventions, reimagine traditions, and push the boundaries of material and meaning, these artists turn repetition into revelation—transforming gestures into acts of discovery.

Echoes Within unfolds as a journey of materials—substances that are profoundly familiar yet reshaped into extraordinary works of art. Paper, pigment, and thread become sites of inquiry, stretched, punctured, stained, and woven into intricate compositions that transcend their conventional roles. Each artist reconstructs materiality into a vessel of contemplation, revealing the delicate balance between presence and absence, solidity and impermanence.

At its core, the exhibition explores the intricate relationship between material, tool, and language. It questions how an idea transforms into notation, memory into record, and record into transmission. How do these acts of transfer anchor efforts of documentation, imagination, and preservation in an ever-shifting world? As material, meaning, and memory intersect in an ongoing dialogue of making and unmaking, Echoes Within probes the fragile yet profound nature of artistic expression.

Curated by Ruchi Sharma, the exhibition weaves together a diverse range of artistic practices - from painting and mixed media to pinprick works, Khatta paper, wasli, and canvas weaving - blurring the boundaries between the tactile and the ephemeral.

Featuring Ajay Lakhera, Bhaskar Rao Botcha, Divya Pamnani, Dhruti Mahajan, Dushyant Patel, Debi Prasad Bhunia, Keerti Pooja, Om Soorya, Rachana Badrakia, Ritesh Bhoi, Sangam Vankhde, Srinivas Pulagam, and Sumanto Chowdhury, the exhibition offers a compelling exploration of contemporary art today. It invites audiences to immerse themselves in the echoes of material, memory, and process, where every layer reveals a deeper resonance within the self.
