Vatsya Padia
Vatsya Padia (b.1999, Baroda, Gujarat, India) completed her BVA in Painting at Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, 2021. Her works have been exhibited in a solo show at Limited Edition Gallery, The Art Platform India Online, 2022 and in group shows at The Future of Imagination, Space 118 Fundraiser 2024,Mumbai; 2024 Kodachrome Memories by Mordern Art Gallery, Delhi; 2022 Monalisa Kalagram, Pune; Gallery Veda, Chennai; 2020, Orissa Modern Art Gallery, Bhubaneswar; 2020, Aakruti Kala Sansthan, Bhilwara; 2019, P.N. Gadgil & Sons, Baroda 2018, and Roerich Art Gallery, Kullu, 2019.
She has been awarded by Aakruti Kala Sansthan, Rajasthan, 2018 and has been an artist- in-residence at Space Studio, Baroda, 2023. She has been a part of workshops at Surya Haveli, Saputara, 2021 and Gandharvapur Artists Village, Saputara, 2015.
Vatsya, in her works, experiments with acrylics, watercolors, drawing inks, pens, brush pens on archival prints. She merges two individual images seamlessly, presenting them as a unified composition while preserving their individuality. Using archival prints for the backdrop, she overlays them with a different composition using watercolours, acrylics, drawing inks, soft pastels, pencil colours, pens and more resulting in captivating illusions.
She embarks on a process of layering one composition upon another, each with its unique narrative and unconventional approach, yet ultimately pleasing to the eye. In essence, her paintings embody perfection in imperfection, capturing the essence of artistic spontaneity.
