Umesh Singh
Umesh is a multidisciplinary artist pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy at the Department of Painting, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, focusing on "Ecological Art Practices in India - 21st Century." He holds an MFA in Printmaking (Gold Medal, 2019) from the University of Hyderabad and a BFA in Painting (2017) from BHU.
Umesh’s work has been showcased in exhibitions, including POSTHUMAN: Body, Ecology & Technology (2024, Utkal University of Culture, Odisha), Immerse Fellowship & Exhibition (2024, Mumbai), and Many Acts of Reading (2022, Vadehra Art Gallery, Delhi). He is a recipient of accolades such as the 62nd National Exhibition of Art Selection (2022) and the Tata Trust International Award (2019, Student Biennale).
Umesh actively participates in workshops and residencies like Art and Permaculture (2024, New Delhi) and the Khoj Peers Residency (2019). His artistic practice explores ecological narratives, blending printmaking, painting, and performance art.
